Alicia Keys is to be recognised for her achievements at next month’s Black Entertainment Television (BET) Honours.

The singer will receive an award at the event which gives recognition to African-Americans who have excelled in various outlets.

Supermodel Tyra Banks, who presents her own television show, will also be honoured at the ceremony that will be held on January 12.

Cedric the Entertainer will host the event at the Warner Theatre in Washington.
