Alicia Keys rolls into holidays with No. 1 hits
Alicia Keys led Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for a fifth week on Thursday with “No One,” a tune that also logged a tenth week atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally.
However, the R&B singer is in position to dethrone herself on both charts before long with “Like You’ll Never See Me Again.” That cut inched up one to No. 2 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and up six to No. 13 on the Hot 100.

Alicia weighs in on Jamie Lynn’s baby
Alicia Keys hopes Jamie Lynn Spears will become a spokesperson for safe sex. The singer made her plea live on US TV talk show The View. Speaking about Spears, who is 16 and pregnant, Keys said: “I think that maybe she can use this opportunity to talk about the ways that it’s really important to have safe sex and it’s difficult [for teens] to refrain and restrain but it’s really important because it changes your whole life.
“It’s a very serious thing.”
Keys appeared as a guest co-host on the daily magazine show, which features 52-year-old actress Whoopi Goldberg.
Talking about the effect that early stardom has on young people, Keys, 27, told the three panellists and the studio audience: “Different people have different lives and different situations. I think that it is a very intense business and that in a lot of ways you are exposed to so much so quickly, so often there’s really no limit to what you can get or have or do.
“[Whatever you ask for] is there.
“You can be 13. You can be nine. You can be 47. It really doesn’t matter. It’s basically handed to you on a platter.
“But the point is that it gets very hard and difficult because most of the people in the industry are very young and we are influenced easily.”

Dakota Fanning, Alicia Keys drawn to ‘Bees’
Dakota Fanning and Alicia Keys are in final negotiations to join the cast of “The Secret Life of Bees,” a female-oriented coming-of-age tale based on the Sue Monk Kidd best-seller.
Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson and Sophie Okonedo are already on board the Fox Searchlight project, which is scheduled to go into production next month in North Carolina. The studio is planning on a release later in 2008.
“Bees,” a drama set in the Southern U.S. in the 1960s, centers on teenager Lily Owens (Fanning) and her friend Rosaleen (Hudson) who flee their hometown to escape their harsh upbringing and seek to uncover the mysteries of Lily’s late mother. Along the way, they encounter three beekeeping sisters (Latifah, Okonedo, Keys) who take the pair in to their South Carolina home.
Gina Prince-Bythewood (”Love & Basketball”) will direct “Bees” from her own adaptation, which was completed before the writers strike began last month.
Monk Kidd’s novel was a sensation when it was released five years ago, spending more than two years on the New York Times best-seller list.
Fanning was in theaters a year ago with “Charlotte’s Web.” She is set to star opposite Hudson, an Oscar winner for “Dreamgirls,” in the drama “Winged Creatures.” Keys made her feature debut earlier this year as a lesbian hitwoman in the crime drama “Smokin’ Aces.” Okonedo starred in “Hotel Rwanda.” Queen Latifah is in theaters with “The Perfect Holiday.”
